If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that planning a wedding can get expensive fast. With that said, there are a few surefire way to cut costs on your wedding.

How to Cut Costs on Your Wedding

1. The Guest List

The longer your guest list, the larger your wedding budget will be. Food and beverage is going to be one of the top costs for your wedding and the more people you're feeding, the higher your final bill will be. Plus, for each and every guest, you're also paying for favors, decor, and any extra rentals. Think of it this way - If you can cut 10 people from your list (or 1 table from your reception), you'll not only save on their meals but also the extra cost of centerpieces and any other other rentals you'd need to accommodate them.

2. The Date (and time)

If you're looking to cut down your wedding costs, consider a weekday, brunch or short-term wedding. Saturdays tend to be the most expensive day of the week for weddings. If you can, try for a Friday or Sunday event. If you're really set on Saturday, try calling around to see if any venues have last minute cancellations or openings in the next few months. Often times you'll get a better deal for a short term booking.

3. Decor

Now I know in our last post we said NOT to cut out decor, but hear me out! You don't necessarily need to order specific florals for your ceremony and another separate order for your reception. Ask your florist how you can repurpose items from your ceremony at your reception.

All in all, being flexible and open to new possibilities is the key to saving on your wedding. And if you're struggling to keep track of all your expenses, don't forget our free online budget calculator is always here to help!
